IPU Nurse and Coordinator – Hibiscus Hospice

Hibiscus Hospice is a specialist hospice and palliative care service which has been providing quality, professional and dedicated care to patients and families for over 30 years. The hospice is committed to a forward thinking and innovative approach to service development and collaboration.

About the Role

This role’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the care and communication that our patients and families receive is coordinated in a seamless and consistent manner by leading across the IPU team.

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced palliative care nurse an experienced palliative care nurse to take on a largely client facing leadership role with the added benefit of being able to work regular hours from Monday – Friday.

The successful candidate will also manage the coordination of care and management of the inpatient unit nursing team, including coaching and mentoring other inpatient nurses.

The role will require approximately one non-clinical day per week. The successful candidate will work closely with the Nurse Team Leader, Clinical Development Specialist and the Referral Coordinator to deliver this service.

The successful candidate will become part of experienced, tight knit team and be based in the modern Hibiscus Hospice building with free parking available on site.

About You

With experience as a clinical leader in palliative care, you will ensure the IPU nursing team is well supported in their roles, through role modelling, coaching and daily oversight of the unit.

You will take an active role in the multi-disciplinary team, be proactive in looking for opportunities to improve our quality of service and effectively manage resources (from rosters to supplies and equipment).

You will have:

  • Post Grad Certificate in speciality nursing practice and plans to work towards a diploma within 12 months

  • Minimum Level 3 PDRP with plans to work towards Level 4 within 6 months
  • Experience leading a team
  • Collaborative working style
  • Strong communication skills
