Position Objective


The Digital Communications & Marketing Coordinator is responsible for the design and digital promotion, growth and roll out of all campaigns, events and activity across the Northern Hospice Alliance.


In this role you will partner with the Marketing & Communications Team Leader to ensure the marketing plan is implemented to a high standard. Responsible for graphic and digital management across multiple platforms.

You will lead digital marketing programmes, content marketing and search engine optimisation and be a passionate advocate of using digital technology to drive forward the organisations fundraising presence online.

With strong graphic design, written and verbal communications skills, you will have the ability to create innovative and engaging content across a range of social media platforms and communication channels for internal and external audiences.

Expected Results

Digital Marketing

  • Responsible to implement a digital marketing plan within the relevant budgets and timeframes.
  • Responsible to use digital marketing channels to pro-actively engage and develop relationships with Hospice supporters and stakeholders.
  • Pro-active management of social media and other relevant digital channels ensuring all content is current and engaging for relevant audiences.
  • Responsible to develop and implement strategies to grow online fundraising through platforms including GiveaLittle and Everyday Hero and website.
  • Design, development and implementation of Electronic Direct Mail including newsletters and appeals.
  • Implement the use of digital advertising in support of third party events and other fundraising and marketing activities.
  • Ensure all channels maintain responsive design that is aligned with broader Fundraising Strategy.
  • Regular reporting on performance metrics including website, Facebook, Google and other relevant channels.
  • Coordinate imagery creation and procurement such as photo shoots as required.
  • Write copy for all digital and social media, website and intranets.
  • Manage and catalogue photo and video library and other online resources.
  • Liaise with external graphic designers, printers, photographers and other suppliers as required.
  • Responsible to keep the intranet updated with engaging copy and imagery
  • Responsible to produce the bi-weekly internal communication newsletter, ‘Community Connections’
  • Monitor uses of the Hospice brand, logo and strap line to ensure they conform to the standards as laid down in the Branding Guidelines.








  • Works with the Marketing & Communications Team Leader to implement copy and imagery for the Northern Hospice Alliance website.
  • Responsible for maintenance of website including content management, design and updates as required.
  • Responsible for increasing online fundraising revenue through innovative use of apps, etc. to drive donations and engagement.
  • Regular reporting and analysis for website stats.


  • Produce design solutions for the wider Alliance to support marketing and PR campaigns.
  • Responsible to work with other areas of the business to produce design requests for campaigns or collateral.
  • Responsible to ensure consistency of design for all collateral, campaigns and projects.
  • Ensure brand guideless and adhered to for all design.

Health & Safety

Supporter Care

  • Delivers a high standard of Hospice care, including responding to supporter correspondence and queries through various platforms.

Person Specification



  • An experienced marketer with a minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in a communications and/or marketing role.
  • Graphic design abilities from concept to fruition.
  • Relevant Marketing/Communications or appropriate qualification.
  • An excellent communicator-both verbally and written.
  • A self-starter and able to manage and deliver projects and meet deadlines.
  • A social media and digital guru.
  • An approachable and helpful individual who is able to build strong rapports.
  • Proven results in growing a community on social media and digital platforms.
  • Be competent in generating engaging content and artwork for different platforms and audiences.
  • A sound knowledge of regular digital reporting and analysis.
  • Excellent skills of MS Office, InDesign, Publisher, Movie maker, Website Content Management platforms and SEO.
  • A full valid clean driver’s license.
  • Experience of providing social media marketing support to fundraising appeals and campaigns would be an advantage.
  • Experience working in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Experience in photography; photo shoots for social media content.
  • Copywriting ability.
  • Project management experience.
