Day Group & Community Volunteer Coordinator – Hibiscus and Warkworth Wellsford Hospices
1.0 FTE (40 hours per week)
The Northern Hospice Alliance incorporates Hospice North Shore, Warkworth Wellsford Hospice and Hibiscus Hospice. Together we provide specialist palliative care services to patients and families living within our respective communities. About the Role
Initially this role will be responsible for the set up and development of the day programmes and the community volunteer programme across both the Hibiscus and Warkworth Wellsford Hospice’s. This will be achieved by identifying the needs of the communities and developing programmes to meet these needs.
Ongoing, the role will facilitate day groups from engaging guest speakers, developing curriculums to supporting and managing the community volunteers who assist with day groups and other services.
This role is a key link between our patients, their engagement with Hospice and ability to access our services
You will have a background in social work, counselling, nursing or other relevant healthcare field, along with, a good understanding of holistic care and how to utilise this in a palliative care setting to get the best outcomes for patients. You will have experience facilitating or leading groups and enjoy creating a sense of community, affinity and support.
Working with the community volunteers you will be skilled at managing a roster to ensure that the effective and efficient service is offered to patients and families through the utilisation of the volunteers. This could be anything from organising a driver to pick up a patient to take them to an appointment through to arranging for a volunteer to sit with a patient whilst their family has a break.
